As in the rest of the world with Christian traditions, children in Cape Verde love Christmas. At the Naděje (Hope) Cabo Verde Foundation Centre we prepared a fun Christmas party for the children, full of singing, dancing, games and treats. The most precious part of our event was the enthusiasm and laughter of all the children.
The Christmas party, organised on the initiative of the founder of the Naděje Foundation, Mónica Sofía Duarte, became the fulfilment of the hopes and wishes of many children who otherwise live in very modest conditions.
“I remember what it was like for me at Christmas, hoping to receive a present, but only sometimes it happened. Hope and disappointment were part of my childhood. That’s why there is no greater reward for our work than the joy of children,” says Mónica Sofia.
